About Me
I am new to FTS this year, and very excited to join the middle school team as an interventionist. Working with the classroom teachers, my job is to provide students with additional instruction to improve their reading, writing, and math skills, through targeting the key areas that give them trouble. I like to think about it as a "catch and release" program. As a team, we will identify the learning issues, assist and instruct to fill in the gap. Then, watch the students soar!
Teaching is a second career for me. I worked in computer technology for hardware and software companies. As a technical writer, I wrote everything from documentation of intellectual property to brochures for NASCAR events. I was also responsible for training the sales force, installers, and end-users. More challenging than adults, middle school students are more rewarding to teach as well! Before coming to FTS, I was teaching seventh and eighth grade Language Arts and had taught sixth through eighth grade science.
When I'm not at work, I am usually taking my children to their various events, shopping at the grocery store, or trying to read the next book in my preview stack. I listen to NPR in the car, drink tea, and watch HGTV. My favorite place to be is Cape Cod. One day, I want to be on Jeopardy. Over this year, I hope to make a difference, one student at a time.
